Life gets crazy at times and things go up and down. But that doesn't mean you give up. Don't give up on yourself and the things you want in life. Everyday is a brand new day. Create a stillness and oneness in your mind so that you can focus and make moves towards that goal. Even if you fall off your schedule because you decide to rest for a minute; don't beat yourself up but also don't give up. Keep going. Be ahead of the game. Let this year be the year we accomplish the goals we had and see the results from the work we put in. It's all a matter of perspective but this is a beautiful life. I wish all my loved one the best and I pray we succeed in everything we do! February is a month of love! Give love. Side note: Don't be so busy as to not be close with your loved ones. Keep in touch with the ones you love and keep healthy relationships. Be a leader. Follow your heart and passions. One small kind act can and will go a long ways. Strive to make a difference.
Be that energy!
Just last week we wrapped up the end of SXSW (South by Southwest) here in the music capitol of the world, Austin TX! Whew! I had no badge (which goes for $1k+) but had the opportunity to go to a few shows. I heard Bishop Briggs was playing at one of the top iconic music venues here in ATX called Antone's on 5th. As soon as I heard she was playing and it was open to the public I was ready to make it happen! I met with my friends and insisted that we make that show. Time was ticking and she was scheduled to play at 11 pm. I called an old friend, David Cotton, who use to book most of the shows at Antone's back in the day asking for his help into the show being that it was badge priority yet open to the public. He told me it was possible & to just go check out the line at the door. We had friends who stopped by Antone's before we showed up & they left because the line was really long so they decided it wasn't even worth the attempt to wait in line, but I was determined to make that show! We decided to stop by BuildFax to see my friend Kevin Chin. I volunteered to work with his company MediaTech Ventures the following 2 days to network with venture capitalist. It was a private party and a great opportunity for me as an entrepreneur. We stopped by to say hello being that we randomly ran into the spot on our way to Antone’s. Asking us where we were headed, everyone doubted that we would make the show being that it was already almost 11pm which was the time Bishop Briggs would take the stage. I was anxious to just make it there! My friend and I said our goodbyes maybe to return if we didn't make the show and quickly headed out to Antone's. As we get to 5th street crossing over to Antone's I could hear Bishop Briggs singing on stage! My heart was racing I was so excited to get to see her! Of course, everyone is like, " Jane stand in line...!" I was already filming her from outside the venue. She has a very dominant personality and on stage she was an incredible performer. We finally made it inside and of course I had to walk all the way to the front of the stage to get the best social media post! Bishop Briggs is such a great talent. Her voice is solid, her performance is energetic, and she makes you feel alive with her! I was so hyped up and I really couldn't believe everyone tried to convince me to not waste my time trying to make this show. It was just pure luck and positive thinking. We had the best time watching her perform. My advice to anyone is to make things happen if you want them to happen. Even if people say it won't happen because of this obligation or circumstance, you still need to try for yourself. Don't just take another person's word for your life. Take control of your own life and make the things you want to happen in your life happen everyday. They aren't going to want is as bad as you want it so why lay your needs/wants in their hands? Take control. Make shit happen. Going back to working for MediaTech Ventures on Saturday & Sunday, I met a guy by the name of Shane. Shane is a local dentist who also has a tech startup here in ATX. I was working the event doing social media for the company and also tending to the guest. Shane arrived & I will say the energy shifted in the room. He quickly introduced himself to me and invited myself & Kevin to a party he was having for his company called Mouth by Mouthwest (too cute) & told me about his startup. I was taken back by his energy and how well spoken he was. He was really excited to be there & I really enjoyed his enthusiasm about his startup. That made me think about my energy and it inspired me. I want to be that energy that everyone feels when I walk in. I don't want the wrong attention, but the right attention. If you are attending a party and meeting new people, it is important to make sure you present yourself in a way that is unforgettable. Especially being an entrepreneur it is vital. That is my message today: Be that energy! Let others feel just how excited and pumped up you are about your life! I felt his energy and that in return influenced a wave of happiness that I could exhibit throughout the evening and weekend. Be the light. Break out of the ordinary and give into what the future holds for you and your dreams! Get excited about it! See you next year SXSW!

Never allow YOUR #dreams to die, even when you feel like you are drowning. In all of the chaos this life can bring to your life there are times you will feel as if you have sank to the bottom of the ocean, weighed down by the pressure & pushed around by the tide. At the times when you feel bound by circumstances in your current timeline, remember that you were not born to live underwater. You were born to walk freely on the land. You can dance and you can cry; you can be alive again. I've been through really hard times in my short lived life. There were times when I really didn't feel like turning to anyone because I didn't want to open up about my life. It was enough going through it that I didn't wish to talk about it again. Who would take the time to listen to my sad stories? I didn't want to put that on anyone. So I would distance myself going deeper and deeper into a depression and I rode that wave for a long time. I would sink my head underwater appreciating the silence numbing my mind. I felt there was so much noise that I wanted to escape it all. I would sit in dark spaces trying to break free from the demons in my mind. I couldn't run away. Where was I to go? At this time in my life I started to practice meditation and prayer which I highly recommend. Silence allows you to meditate without distraction. Focus on controlling your breath & the pulse of your heartbeat. Prayer allows you to speak positive words and get through the darkness by speaking of the light. Let us not stay underwater. We have to come back up to breathe again and return to the shoreline where we were born to live. Life is beautiful. Change your perspective and take control of your mind. Don't allow yourself to die inside. Reignite that fire within. Do whatever it takes. I found that doing for others and seeing other people’s happiness genuinely brought me joy. So this became my goal, to make others happy which in return makes me happy as well. We were born to be alive! Live your best life now! -Xoxo Jane Morrison

This past weekend I took a trip to Oklahoma with my dear boyfriend. We were on our way to see Snoop Dogg (spoiler it was totally awesome & you should be jealous) & Nelly (who is still very attractive, wink wink). I should have finished packing ALL of my bags the night prior as I was told but I decided to finish the day of the flight & almost missed our flight. Well... turns out we were super lucky & our flight was delayed for 2 hrs! Yikes! I experienced every emotion on this trip. Before making it to the South terminal we had to get a shuttle who happened to be driven by the most irritating guy on the planet at the time we got on & he talked so slow about every detail of the ride we were about to take. We were rushing for time & I swear as soon as we got on the shuttle our time didn’t matter one bit to that old man. He let everyone on, wheelchair, walking canes & all the old folks. I was flabbergasted. I could have choked him my blood pressure was so high. At the time I had no patience. I had somewhere to be and I was running late for that date. It was so stressful. I could have prevented the stress by being ready when I was suppose to.
Our flight was at 3:15 pm & it was 30 mins prior. We didn’t think we would make the plane. I was so disappointed in myself. I not only let myself down, but also my boyfriend. I wanted to cry. The whole weekend plans were ruined because I had to put more makeup on & I packed way too much clothes! At this moment is why I wrote this message. There are times where we get upset with ourselves. We know we have done something wrong or we could have done a better job. At these moments, we should be harder on ourselves.
I had a discussion with someone about my fitness goals & how I need to stay focused. The other person told me to not be so hard on myself. But I say, I’m not hard enough! Sometimes you can’t afford to pay a trainer to help you obtain you fitness goals or you can’t afford an instructor to help you learn more specifically on a passion project of yours but what you can do is try your best and keep pushing yourself! If you try your best and you succeed the feeling of joy knowing you did it with all your might is rewarding. Even if you don’t succeed you will sleep at night knowing you have given your all. As well as not trying your best & not making it. You will feel ashamed & disappointed in yourself.
How do you want to feel after the decisions you make until the crossing point in time? The time is takes you to eat a greasy burger & large fries you could have spent your time & money on your fitness goals instead. You will enjoy it at the moment but in time you will reap what you have sown.
I hate time & I need to get better at fitting into the time zone we have to follow. I always look at time as a negative thing because it really stresses me out. It’s like chains pulling you around. Not only is time important but also the things you do with your time as well. My makeup on my face wasn’t as important as getting to the plane to see Snoop & Nelly. Prioritize Jane! Being so frustrated, we ran to check in & we actually made the flight due to maintenance. Whew. I was lucky. Those tickets aren’t cheap. Counting my luck today because that trip was awesome from the beginning to the last day of getting a ridiculously priced rental & driving until almost 4am just to get home because we wanted to see Oklahoma City!
We made a couple of stops while in Oklahoma to do touristy things. (Refer to the photos above) Wheeler Ferris wheel is famous & was relocated from Santa Monica Pier in California. The famous Ferris wheel has been the background of many movies such as the Titanic, Forrest Gump, & Ironman! Stop by if you are in the area! Rides are only $6 & they have hammocks! It was super romantic.
Another stop: Center of the Universe located on Cherry Street in Tulsa. When you stand in the center of the bricks the sound is incredibly louder & very clear! It’s a mystery as to why this is. Right next to this attraction is the Artificial Cloud artpiece by Bob Haozous. This piece is 72.5 ft. tall & is described as “ a silent commentary on man’s love of technology and the destructiveness that can come from that infatuation. The surface of the sculpture has been allowed to rust, to show the effect of time and the atmosphere.”
We stopped by the Myriad Botanical in Tulsa decorated with beautiful tulips for spring! It’s so pretty & free to the public. There is a carousel at the botanical but we were too late to take a ride.
The Oklahoma National Memorial & Museum was definitely a heartwarming experience. We didn’t make the entrance of the museum but we did get to see the chairs representing 168 total people killed on April 19, 1995 by bomber Timothy McVeigh. I hope to revisit to see the museum as I read it is very gruesome.
Another great find was a restaurant & bar called Nola’s Creole & Cocktails located also on Cherry Street in Tulsa. A craft-cocktail & cajun creole inspired restaurant bar with a prohibition era speakeasy. Oysters, crawfish & shrimp étouffée, cajun pasta, & two well-dressed bloody mary’s. I highly recommend this spot if you are visiting for dinner! * Reserve your table as it was busy when we stopped in!
I hope this post has inspired you to do your best in everything you may do. Try harder next time. This time. Today. Be the best version of yourself. Don’t stop because you let yourself down. Get back up & go for round #2! Everyday is a new opportunity. Live your best life yo! Thank you so much for following my blog & please leave a comment with your experience if you have visited any of these destinations!
